15 Month Checkup

Audrey had her 15 month checkup today. We are a little behind, but we were dealing with changing insurance, and I also kind of forgot that she was supposed to have a 15 month checkup. Oops.

Audrey's Stats at 15 months and 3 weeks:
Weight: 21 lbs 7 oz (23 percentile)
Height: 31 inches (59 percentile)
Head Circumference: 19 inches (95 percentile)

The head vs. weight cracks me up. You'd think she looks like a bobble head doll! It's also funny to me that she has my small feet. They don't match her height or her big ole head. She's still wearing shoes she wore last summer!

Audrey got 3 vaccinations today and was not a good sport about it. She'd already had her foot pricked and ears cleaned out. She has a nasty cough and a bit of a runny nose, so she was just a hot mess by the time we left. Speaking of hot mess, is it necessary to keep the temperature in the pediatricians' office at 78%? That did not help the situation.

Audrey checked off most of her milestones. She CAN walk and has taken 5 or 6 steps unassisted, she just prefers not to. The doctor ordered a hip x-ray to make sure there is nothing preventing her from walking. Maybe it's that head to foot ration I mentioned earlier :)

She really wants to stand up on her own. By that I mean she wants to go from sitting or crawling to standing without holding on to something. This usually ends up with her feet planted on the floor, bottom in the air, and head dug into the ground. For a while Graham and I thought she was trying to do a somersault.

Audrey is saying several words. Mama and Dada have been favorites for a while. Dada has now progressed to Da Dee and Mama is now MOM ma. She also says hi, bye bye, night night, Hudson, baby, Audrey, and EEEEEH EEEEEH EEEEEEEH (her words for "give me that banana"). Her favorite is "Aw na na na na" which is her polite little "no thank you." It's funniest when she tells herself no!

Her favorite toys right now are homemade toys. Give her an empty medicine bottle with a nickel in it and she's entertained for quite a while. She also makes beautiful music with a wooden spoon and a pot. Audrey loves to stick her hand in something and "stir" it up...a bowl of chips, my makeup bag, her shoe basket. There is something sensory about it that she really likes. She has a shape sorter, but she likes to just take the lid off and stir up the shapes with her hand.

Huddy is a great playmate an is usually pretty good about letting Audrey climb all over him or chew his tail. Pongo is very patient about having his ears pulled.

Audrey loves her baby. She hugs her, carries her around (often by the foot), gives her pats, and gives her kisses. It's funny to watch your baby nurture her baby. The best part about baby is that Hudson pays her no attention. He has a history of eating doll babies :).

The thing Audrey loves more than anything else in world is AUDREY. No one loves Audrey like Audrey. If she catches a glimpse of herself in the mirror, even her reflection in the window, she stops for a look. When she's crying sometimes the only thing we can do to make her stop is to show her a video of her giggling. I don't blame her...she's pretty dang cute!

I forgot to mention how wonderful Niecie is for ALWAYS accompanying us for checkups. It really helps pass the time! It's also nice to have a free hand or two!

No kidding about the temperature in the doctor's office. I am always sweating by the time we leave! What a wonderful Audrey update :-)
